SEATTLE — Amazon sellers will soon be able to purchase less-than-truckload shipping labels for heavy and bulky shipments, one of several new features for hefty package shippers, Ripley MacDonald, VP of product and software development at Amazon Supply Chain Services, said during the Amazon Accelerate 2026 conference last week.
Starting in October, sellers can acquire the LTL labels through Amazon Buy Shipping — a label purchasing and printing service — via Seller Central and their third-party shipping software.
“When you use LTL through Buy Shipping, you take advantage of Amazon's special negotiated rates and receive protection from late deliveries,” MacDonald said. “That means lower label costs, with fewer disputes eating into your margins and account health.”
Starting in early 2027, Amazon also plans to launch regional delivery pricing for heavy and bulky items, MacDonald said.
“Instead of one flat rate everywhere, you can set fees by region. So you can offer free shipping when it makes sense,” MacDonald said.
Additionally, Amazon will connect big and bulky product sellers to local carriers capable of same- or next-day delivery within a hundred miles of their warehouse, MacDonald added.
Fulfilling heavy and bulky orders will also be available through Amazon Seller Flex, an invite-only program that enables sellers to fulfill orders directly from their own warehouses, MacDonald said.
Once the seller picks, packs and hands off a big and bulky order, "Amazon handles everything after that,” including warehouse coordinated pickups, in-home delivery, placement, installation, customer service and returns, MacDonald said.
“And your customers see a specific delivery date at checkout instead of a range,” MacDonald said. “Sellers using this program are seeing more than 2.5 times the sales compared to those shipping heavy and bulky orders on their own."
The service upgrades for bulky delivery come as the company targets faster delivery times, with MacDonald noting that the sector is one of Amazon’s “fastest-growing merchant categories.” He further noted that the goal is to help sellers ship orders more affordably while speeding up delivery times.
Other retailers have also been making efforts to strengthen their big and bulky shipping capabilities as consumer demand rises. In 2024, for instance, Costco reported growth in its Costco Logistics delivery service for big and bulky products such as appliances and furniture.
Online furniture retailer Wayfair made investments in its delivery network, too, including an expansion of its logistics offering called CastleGate in 2025. The expansion acts as a third-party logistics alternative service specifically for big and bulky home goods.
The Home Depot, meanwhile, launched real-time delivery tracking this year for large items such as lumber and appliances. The tracking capability is enabled through handheld delivery devices used by Home Depot drivers.
