Relay Nium global payments

Users of Relay’s small business banking and money management platform have sent over $500 million in cross-border payments through Nium’s global money movement platform since the companies launched their partnership about a year ago, according to a Monday (Oct. 19) press release.

The users sent payments to 153 countries during that time. Today, more than 500 Relay customers are sending payments powered by Nium’s infrastructure, according to the release.

The collaboration with Nium allows Relay’s customers to collect, convert, send and spend funds across borders, with certainty from onboarding to the arrival of the funds at a recipient’s bank account or wallet, the release said.

Nium and Relay will continue to expand their work together to support small businesses that operate across borders, per the release.

“Certainty is what businesses need from their business banking and payments partners — from the moment a customer is onboarded to the moment funds are delivered,” Nium Chief Business Officer Anupam Pahuja said in the release. “Relay is giving its customers that certainty across 153 countries, and we are built to support it at every step.”

Relay CEO and Co-Founder Yoseph West said in the release, “We needed a technology partner that could move as fast as we do, with modern APIs and a team that works as closely with us as we work with our customers. Nium delivered on both, and we look forward to bringing global payments to thousands of small business customers.”

Relay’s platform draws small business owners who want greater visibility of their bank balance so they can make financial decisions with confidence, West told PYMNTS in an interview posted in August 2025.

Relay answers this demand with a platform that consolidates functions previously handled by a bank account, invoicing software and accounting tool. The model is designed to scale with customers, West said.

Meanwhile, Nium CEO Prajit Nanu told PYMNTS CEO Karen Webster in an interview posted in July that Nium finds the biggest value of stablecoins to be their ability to serve as a treasury layer across global companies’entities that enables them to move money instantly among those entities.
