Amazon Business Is Giving Meaningful B2B Discounts More Visibility

Amazon Business is introducing a new Business Discount badge designed to make competitive single unit business pricing more visible in search results and detail pages.

black-friday-prep-amazon-peak-fees-walmart-ai-agents-record-shipping-costs

What Changed

A single unit Business Price that provides at least 5% savings against Amazon’s validated reference price can automatically earn the new Business Discount badge.

A discount of at least 2% can receive strikethrough pricing and visible savings. Amazon is also removing the previous 4 star rating requirement for the new badge.

Amazon says B2B sales for products with business pricing grew nearly twice as fast in 2026 as products without business pricing.

Why It Matters

Amazon is making Business Price more than a backend pricing setting.

For brands with meaningful B2B demand, a properly structured business price can now create visible merchandising differentiation without requiring a temporary promotion.

What Is Not Changing

Quantity discount rules remain separate. The existing Business Savings Blue Badge continues for qualifying quantity discounts.

A validated reference price is also required before Amazon displays the new single unit discount treatment.

What to Do Now

Light prep recommended. Review B2B heavy ASINs and compare current Business Prices against the 2% and 5% thresholds. Focus on products where business customers already represent meaningful demand rather than applying discounts indiscriminately.

Bigger Picture Signal

Amazon Business is becoming a more distinct merchandising environment. Pricing, promotions, and visibility tools are increasingly being designed specifically around organizational buyers rather than simply extending the consumer marketplace.

Holiday Sales Are Crossing $1 Trillion, but Shoppers Are Starting Earlier and Hunting for Value

black-friday-prep-amazon-peak-fees-walmart-ai-agents-record-shipping-costs

NRF expects November and December retail sales to reach $1.013 trillion, up 4.2% from last year. The more important operator signal is that a meaningful portion of holiday demand is already being spent before November.

What Changed

NRF expects holiday sales to rise from $972 billion last year to $1.013 trillion this year.

Deloitte separately found that 28% of holiday budgets are expected to be spent by the end of October, the highest share in six years. About 4 in 10 shoppers plan to participate in October promotional events, up 18 percentage points from 2023.

Price pressure also remains real. September CPI rose 0.6% for the month and 3.7% year over year, with gasoline up 9.1%.

Why It Matters

A growing holiday topline does not automatically mean stronger unit demand or easier conversion.

Consumers are still spending, but they are increasingly spreading purchases across October, November, and December while looking for promotions and stronger value.

What Is Not Changing

Thanksgiving week remains the largest holiday shopping period. Early demand does not eliminate Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

What to Do Now

Light prep recommended. Keep advertising and inventory healthy between now and Cyber 5 rather than holding an outsized portion of Q4 budget for late November. Watch units, conversion, and contribution margin rather than reading revenue growth alone.

Bigger Picture Signal

Holiday commerce is becoming a three month season. Brands that can sustain inventory, media, and promotional discipline across multiple demand spikes have an advantage over brands built around one major event.

Walmart Adds More Carrier Options Just as Q4 Shipping Costs Hit Record Levels

black-friday-prep-amazon-peak-fees-walmart-ai-agents-record-shipping-costs

Seller fulfilled shipping is getting more expensive heading into peak, but Walmart is giving Marketplace sellers more options for managing that pressure. Eight additional parcel carriers are now approved for Walmart orders.

What Changed

Walmart added UniUni, SpeedX, Exelot, SwiftX, TForce Final Mile, GOFO, OSM Worldwide, and DoorDash to its approved carrier list. Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery is also available for freight shipments. USPS, FedEx, and UPS remain Walmart’s preferred carriers.

The timing matters. The TD Cowen and AFS Freight Index projects ground parcel costs at 43.3% above the January 2018 baseline in Q4, an all time high. It also estimates that 72% of the increase in ground fuel surcharges since early 2021 comes from carrier formula changes rather than diesel itself.

Why It Matters

Alternative carriers are becoming a real margin lever for seller fulfilled brands. Smaller sellers generally have less negotiating power with UPS and FedEx, making Walmart’s expanded approved carrier list more useful heading into peak.

The opportunity is not simply finding the cheapest label. Delivery performance still affects Walmart account health.

What Is Not Changing

Sellers remain responsible for valid tracking on more than 99% of Marketplace orders. Using an unapproved carrier can create performance and compliance risk.

What to Do Now

Immediate operational check. Compare current parcel rates against the newly approved carriers on your highest volume lanes, but validate delivery performance before shifting meaningful volume.

Bigger Picture Signal

Marketplace fulfillment is becoming more carrier agnostic. Walmart wants sellers to have more transportation options while keeping the delivery promise standardized.

Amazon Peak Fulfillment Fees Are Now Live Through January 14

black-friday-prep-amazon-peak-fees-walmart-ai-agents-record-shipping-costs

Peak season fulfillment pricing is now active. Every FBA operator should be modeling Q4 profitability using the holiday rate card, not normal season economics.

What Changed

Holiday peak fulfillment fees apply from October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027 for FBA, Remote Fulfillment into Canada and Mexico, Multi Channel Fulfillment, and Buy with Prime.

Amazon says the average per unit increase is consistent with last year’s peak adjustment. The existing 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge also applies on top of the holiday fees.

Amazon has updated its Revenue Calculator, Profit Analytics dashboard, and Fee and Economics Preview reports to reflect the seasonal rates.

Why It Matters

The same sales price and ACoS now produce a different contribution margin than they did last week.

This is especially relevant for low price products, bulky inventory, aggressive promotions, and ASINs where advertising already pushes profitability close to the line.

What Is Not Changing

These are seasonal fees. The peak period ends January 14, 2027.

What to Do Now

Immediate operational check. Update contribution margin models using actual peak FBA fees and the fuel surcharge before approving additional discounts or increasing advertising budgets.

Bigger Picture Signal

Advertising performance cannot be managed independently from fulfillment economics. Q4 optimization increasingly needs to start with contribution margin, not ROAS.

TikTok Shop Creator Economics Favor Repetition Over Follower Count

black-friday-prep-amazon-peak-fees-walmart-ai-agents-record-shipping-costs

New creator performance data suggests TikTok Shop brands should focus less on finding one large creator and more on getting productive creators to make multiple pieces of content.

What Changed

Flywheel data shows average GMV per video increasing as creators post more content for the same product.

A creator with 1 video averaged $7.19 in GMV per video. Creators with 3 to 5 videos averaged $14.16. At 20 or more videos, average GMV increased to $74.07 per video.

The data also supports Flywheel’s recommendation that brands aim for multiple shoppable videos from productive creators rather than treating each sample as a one time activation.

Why It Matters

The economics look more like performance advertising than traditional influencer marketing.

Once a creator demonstrates an ability to sell a product, getting more content from that creator may be more efficient than continuously sending samples to new people.

What Is Not Changing

This is Flywheel platform data, not a universal TikTok benchmark. Results will vary significantly by category, product economics, creator quality, and commission structure.

What to Do Now

Light prep recommended. Separate creators who merely post from creators who generate GMV. Build repeat content incentives around the second group instead of constantly restarting creator acquisition.

Bigger Picture Signal

TikTok Shop is pushing creator marketing toward measurable performance media. Reach still matters, but repeatable conversion is becoming the metric that determines where brands should invest.
