Brands Will Soon Be Able to Influence What Amazon’s AI Says About Their Products

Amazon is giving advertisers a way to provide brand expertise directly to Alexa for Shopping. Branded Conversations expands Sponsored Brands prompts from simple product information into longer AI assisted product discussions.
What Changed
Brands can provide information explaining product differences, use cases, customer needs, complementary products, and other expertise.
Alexa for Shopping combines that information with signals from detail pages, Brand Stores, and campaign data to answer shopper questions inside a sponsored conversation.
Branded Conversations launch in the United States in January 2027.
Why It Matters
Amazon optimization is moving beyond keywords and PDP copy. Brands now need to think about whether AI shopping assistants understand their products well enough to recommend the correct item when a customer describes a problem or use case conversationally.
Product education becomes advertising input.
What Is Not Changing
These conversations are clearly labeled Sponsored. Brands provide information, but Amazon controls the Alexa for Shopping experience and final response.
What to Do Now
Light prep recommended. Start building structured product knowledge around use cases, product differences, compatibility, FAQs, objections, and cross sell relationships. That information is becoming useful beyond the PDP itself.
Bigger Picture Signal
Search is becoming conversational. Winning visibility increasingly depends on whether a marketplace’s AI understands why a product is relevant, not simply whether the listing contains the right search term.

Walmart Is Using Seller Data to Tell Brands What They Should Add to Their Catalog

Walmart has upgraded its Assortment Growth tool to provide sellers with personalized recommendations about products and categories they should consider adding to Marketplace.
What Changed
Sellers can select a growth objective or describe what they are looking for. Walmart then recommends assortment opportunities based on the seller’s business and customer demand.
New Key Insights explain why Walmart recommends an item, identify relevant trends, and suggest a next action. Sellers can begin creating the recommended item directly from the dashboard.
Why It Matters
Walmart is exposing more of its demand signals to sellers instead of requiring brands to guess where assortment gaps exist.
For manufacturers with larger catalogs, this could help determine which SKUs deserve Walmart investment before committing inventory, content, and advertising.
What Is Not Changing
A Walmart recommendation does not guarantee demand or profitability. Brands still need to evaluate margin, competition, fulfillment economics, and advertising requirements.
What to Do Now
Light prep recommended. Larger catalog brands should review Assortment Growth and compare Walmart recommendations against products they currently sell on Amazon or DTC but have not launched on Walmart.
Bigger Picture Signal
Walmart is getting more deliberate about guiding seller assortment. Better recommendations help sellers grow, but they also help Walmart systematically fill selection gaps against Amazon.

Amazon Is Putting Campaign Analysis Behind a Chat Box

Amazon is making campaign analysis conversational. Advertisers can ask performance questions in plain English and receive answers, benchmarks, trends, and visualizations without manually pulling multiple reports.
What Changed
Natural language analytics inside Amazon Ads Agent can answer questions about campaign performance, new to brand customers, ROAS, long term sales, and performance across time periods.
The tool combines Amazon advertising data, retail signals, peer benchmarks, and unified reporting into an interactive analysis workspace.
It is currently available through closed beta enrollment for eligible advertisers.
Why It Matters
A meaningful portion of routine reporting and data extraction can now happen without analysts manually building reports or manipulating spreadsheets.
The value of analysis shifts toward asking better questions, validating the answer, identifying causation, and determining what decision follows from the data.
What Is Not Changing
Amazon is making the data easier to interrogate. It is not deciding whether the result is good for the advertiser’s broader business.
Strong analysis still requires understanding margin, inventory, category dynamics, organic performance, seasonality, and objectives outside the advertising console.
What to Do Now
Light prep recommended. Seek beta access and begin documenting the recurring questions strategists ask during weekly and monthly account analysis. Those questions can become the starting library for testing the tool.
Bigger Picture Signal
Reporting itself is being commoditized. The durable skill becomes interpretation and decision making rather than the ability to pull the report.

TikTok Is Letting Brands Sell Directly Without Opening a TikTok Shop

TikTok is introducing an alternative to sending shoppers away from the app or requiring brands to operate a TikTok Shop. Buy Direct keeps the transaction inside TikTok while allowing the brand to remain the merchant of record.
What Changed
Buy Direct creates an in app checkout connected to merchant systems through partners including Shopify, Salesforce, Stripe, and others.
TikTok is also testing Shopping Assistant, an AI shopping agent that can answer questions about sizing, availability, shipping, and products before guiding the customer toward checkout. Both products are currently available through eligibility based testing.
Why It Matters
This potentially removes one of the biggest strategic decisions brands face on TikTok. A company may be able to participate in native TikTok commerce without creating a completely separate TikTok Shop operation.
The brand keeps the transaction while TikTok controls discovery, assistance, and checkout experience.
What Is Not Changing
Buy Direct does not make TikTok the merchant. The brand remains the merchant of record and still owns the underlying commerce operation.
What to Do Now
Light prep recommended. Shopify brands in particular should watch eligibility closely. This could become an attractive middle ground between traditional TikTok advertising and operating a full TikTok Shop.
Bigger Picture Signal
Social platforms increasingly want to own the shopping interface even when they do not own the actual transaction.
Walmart Can Now Permanently Terminate Seller Accounts That Stay Suspended Too Long

Walmart has clarified that a suspended Marketplace account cannot necessarily remain suspended indefinitely. Accounts that stay unresolved can now move from suspension to permanent termination.
What Changed
Walmart says it reserves the right to terminate qualifying seller accounts that remain suspended beyond a reasonable threshold without successful reinstatement or appeal.
Walmart has not published a specific number of days that defines the threshold.
Why It Matters
Some brands leave a suspended Walmart account untouched while focusing resources elsewhere. That strategy now carries more risk.
Permanent termination can make returning to Walmart significantly more difficult and potentially sacrifice the account history and marketplace presence the brand previously built.
What Is Not Changing
A suspension is not automatically a termination. Sellers can still address the underlying violation and submit an appeal through Walmart’s existing reinstatement process.
What to Do Now
Immediate operational check. Any brand with a currently suspended Walmart account should identify the suspension reason and either begin remediation or make a deliberate decision about whether the account is worth preserving.
Bigger Picture Signal
Walmart continues tightening marketplace governance as the platform matures. Dormant problem accounts increasingly will not be allowed to sit unresolved indefinitely.

Consumer Confidence Just Fell to Its Lowest Level Since 2014

Consumer confidence weakened sharply heading into the holiday season. The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index fell to 81.9 in September, marking a third consecutive monthly decline.
What Changed
The index declined 6.7 points from 88.6 in August.
Consumers became more negative about current business conditions and the labor market, while expectations for future income, employment, and business conditions also weakened.
Why It Matters
This does not mean consumers stop spending. It means they become more selective.
That fits the marketplace environment we are already seeing around Q4 events. Value, promotions, bundles, replenishable products, and clear price justification become more important when shoppers feel financially stretched.
What Is Not Changing
Online holiday spending can still grow while consumer confidence falls. Lower confidence changes how customers evaluate purchases, not necessarily whether ecommerce grows overall.
What to Do Now
No immediate account change required. Monitor closely. Watch conversion rate, average selling price, coupon utilization, and promotional response during Prime Big Deal Days before making broader Q4 assumptions.
Bigger Picture Signal
The 2026 holiday customer may still spend, but brands should expect a more value conscious shopper. Strong demand and cautious consumers can exist at the same time, which makes pricing and promotion discipline increasingly important.
